Stack & Cut Hexagon Quilts with Marci Baker

UPDATED 7/14/2022

With your favorite large-scale, high-contrast print, you can create a beautiful quilt design!  Find surprise and beauty with this simple technique to stack layers and cut pieces from large, high-contrast prints.  Swirling pattern repeats add magical details to 6 identical triangles coming together like a kaleidoscope or millefiori design.

To learn this technique, you will be provided in class with a pre-selected print for a small table runner, 24" x 65".  Cutting shapes, selecting the best designs, and piecing tips will be covered in detail.   Select and bring fabrics that match the fabric provided in class.  Fabric options of the pre-selected fabric kits and the instructions for ordering will be emailed to you after class registration has been received.  A picture of the Table Runner can be found on the Supply List.

If desired, bring your favorite fabric so that you can begin stacking and cutting your fabrics for your own unique, serendipitous quilt after the above demo of sectioning and layering. Marci will assist those who need help selecting or cutting their own fabrics.  Full details on how to select fabrics can be found in the Supply List and/or Video below.

Workshop will include 1 hour for lunch.

ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR:

Recognized internationally for her expertise in quilting, Marci enjoys sharing ideas that simplify the process of quilting.

A native of Dallas, Texas, Marci has loved sewing for years, making her first quilt at age 9 and sewing her own clothes in high school and college. She began teaching quilting in 1989 for her local quilting guild and shops. Marci graduated with a bachelor’s degree and master’s degree in math. In 1993, she started Alicia’s Attic with concepts that combine her love of math with her love of quilting. Quilting became a great way to share her knowledge with others.

Enthusiasm and inspiration for quilting can be seen throughout her lectures, workshops, and books. She has been featured in Redbook, on Home and Garden TV’s Simply Quilts, Quilters’ News Network, NBC’s The Jane Pauley Show, and has been published in American Quilter Magazine and Traditional Quiltworks.

In 2006, she expanded Alicia’s Attic by purchasing Clearview Triangle from Sara Nephew. They continue to collaborate on new designs and techniques.

Marci and her husband, Clint, currently live in Fort Collins, Colorado, where they enjoy the outdoors and the beauty of nature that is so abundant in Colorado.
