The 18th biennial Festival of Quilts will be held in a little over a year, and we need to start planning! If you are interested in helping and want to learn more about committee positions, please plan to attend our Information meeting:

Before the May 14 monthly meeting, we will gather in the conference room behind our meeting space starting at 5:30 (same room charity quilt bee meets).

Do you love to travel as much as you love to quilt?

When you glance through a Quilters Travel Website and see titles like “Italian Fabrics and Flavors” or Canyonland Quilts”, do your creative juices start moving? Anytime I see something related to the Sisters Outdoor Quilt Show…or …take a Quilt Vacation…my home heart starts to beat a little slower as I begin to dream.

Well, summon your quilting spirit and come hear about quilting journeys near and far. We’ll explore international quilting tours as well as here in the States. And we may even get a peek at potential trip to our Colorado Shop Hops or an 8 hour trip to the International Quilt Museum in Nebraska or a virtual trip through Quilt Folks.

We’ll have representatives of a Quilt Travel Company or two join us. And ACQ member, Valerie Mishek, will share about her 14 day Quilt Cruise to Hawaii.

So…get your passport renewed and get ready…for a Quilting Adventure.

This meeting will be both IN-PERSON and ONLINE via Zoom. Both meeting rooms will open at 6:15 pm and the meeting will begin at 6:30 pm Mountain time. Guests are also welcome to attend this meeting for $8.00. Please register ahead of time . If you will be attending via Zoom, please ensure that you know how to use Zoom prior to the meeting. The link will come by email when you register.

Community Open Sew Day May (May 30, 2026)

Come join us for an afternoon of sewing, fun and fellowship. ACQ has reserved the Event Hall at the Lone Tree Library for Saturday, May 30th from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm. The Event Hall is located on the second floor and there is an elevator.

We will be making quilt tops for Clermont Commons, a charity that provides patriotic quilts to women veterans. There will be 10 kits ready to sew, so just bring your sewing machine and your sewing supplies—and be ready to stitch and socialize.

Bring your sewing machine (or handwork), extension cord and a fun project to work on.

Please feel free to come and go as your schedule allows and please feel free to bring a snack.

We will also have kits for the Fall Auction if you're looking for a quick and easy project to work on.

Quilt Scouts started as a simple idea: what if learning new quilting skills felt a little more like going on an adventure? In this talk, Megan will share the origin story of Quilt Scouts, how the idea came to life, and what the past two years of building this creative community have looked like behind the scenes. She’ll also give a peek at what Quilt Scouts looks like today—from badges and projects to the growing network of Base Camps and members around the country. Along the way, Megan will share what she’s learned, where the trail is headed next, and a few of the big ideas she's dreaming up for the future.

Bio:

Megan Fowler is the founder and Scout Leader of Quilt Scouts, an online community designed to help modern quilters learn new skills, earn badges, and connect through creative adventure. A quilter and entrepreneur, Megan created Quilt Scouts to combine her love of quilting, storytelling, and outdoor-inspired exploration into a welcoming space for makers of all experience levels. Through patterns, tutorials, events, and a growing network of local Base Camps hosted by quilt shops, she encourages quilters to try new techniques and celebrate the journey of learning. Megan lives in Colorado with her family and believes quilting is always better when it comes with a little curiosity, community, and adventure.

Grab your sunhat and your favorite side dish—it’s time for our ACQ Summer Picnic on June 13 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM!

Come enjoy a delightful afternoon with your Arapahoe County Quilts friends filled with good food, laughter, and plenty of quilt talk. We’ll provide the main dish, and we invite you to bring a tasty side to share for our picnic feast.

Be sure to pack your ACQ Sewing Challenge project, too! We’ll display all of the amazing entries so everyone can admire the creativity and cast their votes for their favorite. The winning project will be announced during the picnic, so bring your best stitches and a little friendly competitive spirit.

No need to worry about the practical details—there will be parking available and bathrooms nearby, so all you need to bring is your dish, your challenge project, and your sunny picnic spirit.

Come soak up some summer fun, celebrate each other’s creativity, and enjoy a lovely afternoon together with your quilting community! ☀️

Join Megan Fowler for a relaxed, hands-on quilt photography workshop set in the beauty of local Falcon Park. In this 2-hour session, I’ll walk you through how to capture stunning photos of your quilts using natural light, simple styling, and easy camera (or phone!) techniques—no fancy gear required. We’ll cover everything from composition and backgrounds to getting those crisp, scroll-stopping shots that truly show off your work. Bring a quilt (1-3 quilts) and get ready to see your makes in a whole new light.

Museum Masterpieces: A Virtual Quilt Tour

Join us for a fascinating virtual visit to the International Quilt Museum! During this special presentation, we will learn about the history of the museum, discover how the team cares for its remarkable world-class quilt collection, and enjoy a guided look at several of the current gallery exhibits on display.

This is a wonderful opportunity to go behind the scenes of one of the most celebrated quilt museums in the world and gain a deeper appreciation for the preservation, artistry, and stories found in quilts across time. The presentation will conclude with time for questions, giving members a chance to learn even more.

Our presenter, Lindy Clausen, is the Education Coordinator at the International Quilt Museum. Lindy graduated from the University of Nebraska–Lincoln in 2012 with a bachelor’s degree in elementary education and art education, and later earned a master’s degree in educational leadership from Doane College. After eleven years as a public-school teacher, she joined IQM in 2023. Lindy now leads field trips and collaborates with the Lincoln community to create engaging events and educational experiences at the museum.

The fall auction is Arapahoe County Quilters main fundraiser providing critical funds for charity quilts and continuing education involving over 200 guild members. Each year ACQ members create and donate over 300 charity quilts to area organizations. Your support is greatly appreciated.

Please "register" to upload your auction donations. You can register multiple donations by returning to the event and selecting register again.

Make sure you give your item a catchy name, great selling description, and estimated value. Typically, opening bids start at 50% of the value. If you would like the opening bid to be higher (or lower) please fill out that section in the registration.

Don't forget to have a good quality photograph (or multiple) ready to submit with your registration.

Items that are not sold by the end of the auction will need to be picked up on Saturday October 24th from 9-12 at Our Father Lutheran Church.
