West Side Stitchers Bee June Meeting (June 17, 2026)

The West Side Stitchers is a Sewing/Quilting Bee open to anyone looking for an opportunity to gather with friends, make new friends, learn new techniques, and enhance quilting skills. We hope you can join us, no matter where you live in the Metro Area! For starters, we will focus on individual projects.

We are limited to 15 attendees so be sure to register.

For each meeting, bring $5 for the use of the room, a sack lunch, your sewing machine and whatever you are working on. An iron, ironing board and cutting board will be provided.

You can park in the guest parking and enter through the double doors on the southeast side of the building. You will need to call either Doreen (303) 519-5728 or Jeanette (303) 596-9476) to gain entrance.

This gathering will feature a special Bee Hive, when representatives from Bees who have openings come for a sew day and then have people who are looking for Bees also come to a casual gathering(s) to see what group they may want to join.

"Stirring the Pot: Color, Chaos, and Cloth"

JULY GUILD MEETING

Thursday, July 9th at 6:30 pm

In this engaging lecture, Diana explores the intersection of color, intuition, and process in fabric dyeing. Through stories and examples, she demystifies materials and techniques while encouraging quilters to embrace experimentation and discover their own creative voice.

Born and raised in Denver, Diana Fox is a studio fiber artist and quilter passionate about textiles. Originally a traditional quilter, she transitioned to creating art quilts and has never looked back. She has earned numerous awards for her unique and captivating work, which tells stories of color, texture and nature's influences. She has a particular affinity for dyeing, surface design, and heavy stitching. Diana is a SAQA Juried Artist member and a member of an invitational art quilt group, 4 Common Corners. Additionally, she has mounted several solo exhibitions, including at the National Quilt Museum. She resides in parker, CO, with her life partner, three rescue dogs, and a fat cat.

This meeting will be both IN-PERSON and ONLINE via Zoom. Both meeting rooms will open at 6:15 pm and the meeting will begin at 6:30 pm Mountain time. Guests are also welcome to attend this meeting for $8.00. Please register ahead of time . If you will be attending via Zoom, please ensure that you know how to use Zoom prior to the meeting. The link will come by email when you register.

A Dyeing Workshop

with Diana Fox

This beginner-friendly workshop introduces you to the joy of creating your own fabric with fiber-reactive dyes and playful surface-design techniques. You’ll explore a variety of approaches, including immersion dyeing, low-water techniques, screen printing, and gelli plate printing.

We’ll focus on building confidence, understanding simple color interactions, and embracing the unexpected. You’ll leave with a collection of unique fabrics and a toolkit of techniques to continue exploring at home.

No experience necessary—just curiosity and a willingness to play.

Material Fee: $25 - Pay material fee directly to Diana Fox via cash, check or Venmo on the day of the class.

Can buy additional RTD material for $10/yd day of event.

NOTE: Wear clothes to get messy in!!

This is also Colorado Day (state founding anniversary) and ACQ will have a display of Colorado-themed quilts in the conference room.

She has designed the entire process to be simple and stress-free so you can take a risk with your fabric selections or risk nothing at all. Step out of your “quilt comfort zone” and try something new.

If your fabrics have good contrast, look great when lined up together, and match the values given in the fabric requirements table, then they'll look beautiful when sewn together.

September Workshop- "Quilts, Care and Tea" at the Rocky Mountain Quilt Museum (September 05, 2026)

Learn about caring for antique quilts from grandmas or your own not-so-antiques. We’ll be guided as we move step-by-step through proper care and cleaning of quilts and textiles. Understand storage practices and find out how to creatively and effectively display quilts in your home. Find out what to do with those quilts that show up as you are cleaning out closets, basements or attics. Should you 'fix it'? Clean it? Use it? or Display it? AND HOW? We’ll receive what you should do with!

We’ll be meeting in the new Classroom… surrounded by gorgeous quilts. Following the docent talk, we’ll enjoy a light refreshment of scones, tea and fresh fruit. Then, everyone is invited to tour the gallery where the Kids Camp Quilts will be on display along with 2 other quilt exhibits.

Museum Masterpieces: A Virtual Quilt Tour

With Lindy Clausen

Join us for a fascinating virtual visit to the International Quilt Museum! During this special presentation, we will learn about the history of the museum, discover how the team cares for its remarkable world-class quilt collection, and enjoy a guided look at several of the current gallery exhibits on display.

This is a wonderful opportunity to go behind the scenes of one of the most celebrated quilt museums in the world and gain a deeper appreciation for the preservation, artistry, and stories found in quilts across time. The presentation will conclude with time for questions, giving members a chance to learn even more.

Our presenter, Lindy Clausen, is the Education Coordinator at the International Quilt Museum. Lindy graduated from the University of Nebraska–Lincoln in 2012 with a bachelor’s degree in elementary education and art education, and later earned a master’s degree in educational leadership from Doane College. After eleven years as a public-school teacher, she joined IQM in 2023. Lindy now leads field trips and collaborates with the Lincoln community to create engaging events and educational experiences at the museum.

Come enjoy an inspiring evening of quilt history, museum treasures, and creative connection with your ACQ community!

The fall auction is Arapahoe County Quilters main fundraiser providing critical funds for charity quilts and continuing education involving over 200 guild members. Each year ACQ members create and donate over 300 charity quilts to area organizations. Your support is greatly appreciated.

Please "register" to upload your auction donations. You can register multiple donations by returning to the event and selecting register again.

Make sure you give your item a catchy name, great selling description, and estimated value. Typically, opening bids start at 50% of the value. If you would like the opening bid to be higher (or lower) please fill out that section in the registration.

Don't forget to have a good quality photograph (or multiple) ready to submit with your registration.

After you have registered your donation drop it at the Fall Auction table during guild meetings. If you have questions, please email FallAuction@acqcolorado.org

Items that are not sold by the end of the auction will need to be picked up on Saturday October 24th from 9-12 at Our Father Lutheran Church.
