About Us Arapahoe County Quilters (ACQ) engages in a variety of activities that benefit our members, as well as our community. In addition to our general meetings, we sponsor a biennial quilt show, host local and national speakers and support several charitable programs. * General Meetings are held on the second Thursday of each month at the First Plymouth Congregational Church, 3501 S. Colorado Blvd. on the southwest corner of Hampden and Colorado, in Englewood, Colorado. Guest fees are $6.00. Doors open at 6:30 pm for socializing and our meeting starts at 7:00 pm. We have a business meeting covering pertinent topics, show and tell, and door prize drawings. Monthly programs feature a variety of local and national speakers on a wide variety of topics. Click here for a map to our meeting location. * Membership - We have over 350 members with an average monthly attendance of 175. Membership in Arapahoe County Quilters is $25 per year (January through December). Your membership entitles you to attend our monthly guild meetings and receive our newsletter, ACQ Views. Our meetings are open to guests for a fee of $6.00. You can join ACQ at any of the general meetings or you may print and complete the Membership Form. Click here to download the membership form. * Biennial Quilt Show - The ACQ Festival of Quilts Show is held every two years (even numbered years). The purpose of the show is to showcase quilts from ACQ members. Click here for more information. * Charitable Quilts - The Charitable Quilts Committee for Arapahoe County Quilters focuses on making quilts for local organizations including House of Hope, Colorado Pregnancy and Newborn Loss Services, Mount St. Vincent's Children’s Home, Denver Health Medical, Children’s Hospital and Parker Adventist Hospital. We have many volunteers who participate in our endeavors. We assemble kits with pre-cut fabrics and instructions to hand out to volunteers each month at our meetings. When they have finished a top it is returned and quilted. The Denver Metro Area Long Arm Quilters and other long-arm volunteers throughout the Denver area are machine quilting our charitable quilts. * Quilt Bees - ACQ encourages both new and existing members to join “bees,” which are small groups that gather weekly or monthly to work on individual or group quilting projects. Joining a bee is a wonderful way to meet new people, make friends, learn new techniques and enhance quilting skills. Some bees meet at libraries, while most rotate among members’ homes. Bees are formed by geographic location and desired meeting time. Contact the Beekeeper for more information. Click here to download a list of groups that are currently accepting members. * Quilt Challenge - Every other year (odd numbered years) guild members can choose to take part in a specially assigned “challenge” project. Themes are chosen, and sometimes a special fabric is required. Members’ completed challenge quilts are displayed and prizes are awarded. * Newsletter - ACQ Views is published monthly as a benefit to members. The deadline for submissions and advertising is the Wednesday following the 3rd Monday of each month. Articles and information can be submitted to:
